About Us
Tom Parfitt is a 1975 graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Accounting. Tom became a CPA in May of 1976 after getting the necessary 2 years experience and passing the CPA exam. In 1979 he opened an office at 210 West Second Street in Waverly, Ohio. Tom opened his Athens office in 1982 on Richland Ave. In December 2004 Tom and his Athens staff moved into their new offices at 82 Columbus Road in Athens. Tom is registered with the Accountancy Board State of Ohio, and a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Charlie Hooper is a 1969 graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a 1982 graduate of Ohio University with a Master's Degree in Business. He joined Thomas W. Parfitt, CPA in 1984 after several years in the banking industry. As a Staff Accountant his primary responsibilities include financial statement preparation and federal and state tax return preparation for individuals, corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorship, trusts, estates, and tax exempt entities.

Gail McPherson is a 1977 graduate of Hocking College with an Associate's Degree in Accounting. He joined Thomas W. Parfitt, CPA in 1984. His job responsibilities as a Staff Accountant include financial statement preparation, income tax returns, including federal and state for all entity types, payroll tax preparation and various other tasks to serve our clients.

Sharma Davis has been employed in our Waverly Ohio branch office since 1988. As Payroll Specialist and Accounting Clerk she handles preparation of payrolls, processes payroll taxes, tax returns, tax mailings and also general ledger accounting. Her knowledge, skills and professionalism contribute to our efforts to ensure quality service to our clients.

James Whitmore is a 1988 graduate of Hocking College with an Associate's Degree in Accounting. James was an accountant for a private company for several years before joining Thomas W. Parfitt, CPA in 1996. As a Staff Accountant James prepares financial statements, payroll taxes, and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations and non-profit organizations. James also maintains the firm's website and computer systems, including hardware and software upgrades and backups.

Beth Hamon joined Thomas W. Parfitt, CPA in 1998. As Payroll Specialist and Office Manager, her duties include preparing payrolls for over 40 businesses, payroll taxes, processing tax returns and tax mailings for a wide range of local and regional businesses. She works to ensure total satisfaction and to build good relationships with new and existing clients.

Jessica Hamm is a 2007 graduate of Hocking College with Associate's Degrees in Accounting and Business Management. In 2010 she received her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Franklin University. Jessica joined the team at Thomas W. Parfitt, CPA in 2007. Her responsibilities as a staff accountant consist of preparation of payroll taxes, financial statements, bank reconciliations, income tax returns and other tasks for various types of entities. She is also a notary. Jessica strives to give our clients quality service through her professionalism, knowledge, and expertise.

Kevin Simons joined the staff at Thomas W. Parfitt, CPA in August 2008. He is a 2008 graduate of Hocking College with an Associate's Degree in Accounting and is seeking a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Franklin University. As an Accounting and Payroll Clerk his job duties include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, payroll, preparing financial statements and various other tasks. J.J. Jones is the newest staff member at Thomas Parfitt, CPA, having joined the team in November 2008. He is a 2008 Hocking College graduate with an Associate's Degree in Accounting. His responsibilities as an Accounting Clerk include preparing financial statements, bookkeeping and various other tasks.
